WSLL ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION

Spring 2021 Registration is CLOSED for all divisions except Challengers

May 5, 2021
West Side Little League's Spring 2021 Registration is CLOSED for all divisions except our Special Needs Challengers Division.
This division is for Special Needs Children Only. Age 7-23: Open to all Special Needs Children still in school (birthdates 9/1/1997 - 8/31/2021)
Please check back in early July for information about our Fall Ball 2021program
Thank you for your participation and cooperation.
The Board of the West Side Little League

The Spring 2021 season will start in late March or early April, depending on your child’s age group and will end either Sunday, June 13th or 20th.

Scholarships:
No child will be denied the opportunity to play because of an inability to pay. If a family is unable to shoulder the entire registration fee, scholarships are available for part or all of the registration fee. When possible, families are asked to pay a portion of the fee.  If you are requesting a scholarship, please email the League Registrar before registering. The registrar will get back to you.

Refund Policy:
Please Read Carefully since our refund policy has changed due to COVID-19.
1. If the season is canceled by the Parks Department due to COVID-19 before the halfway point of the season you will be issued a refund equal to half of what you paid at registration.
2. If the season is canceled by the Parks Department due to COVID-19 after the halfway point of the season, no refunds will be given.
3. Other than that, refunds will be granted on a case-by-case basis. A player who withdraws for reasons other than COVID-19 will not receive a refund unless it is for a valid medical reason, supported by a doctor's note. A $25 processing fee will apply to those refunds.

Uniforms & Equipment:
In the Spring, the League provides full uniform—jersey, pants, socks, and cap.
All players must have their own mitts (WITH THEIR FULL NAME WRITTEN ON IT) and wear appropriate footwear--sneakers or plastic cleats (NO METAL CLEATS).
All male players ages 9 and up are required to wear an athletic supporter with protective cup.
Do NOT bring your own ball to the field. The League provides balls of appropriate hardness for the different age groups.
It is not necessary but if you want to purchase your own bat, here are links to information about bats approved by Little League:  https://www.littleleague.org/playing- rules/bat-rules/ and  https://usabat.com/.  Please only purchase an approved bat.

WSLL Registration Fees, Scholarship, Wait-list & Refunds: WSLL FEES.
Divisions are grouped by age: WSLL DIVISION PLACEMENT.

Boundaries

Boundaries for participation in Little League can be found on the Little League website at Little League's League Finder Players who live outside of these boundaries should contact the Little League in their area for more information.
NOTE: Exception to this rule is if your child attends school within our catchment area. A letter of proof from the school is required for new players who are claiming this exception.
In addition, we accept players from outside our boundaries in our Special Needs Challengers Division and may accept players from outside these boundaries in our Softball divisions.

Player Assignment

Player assignment is at the discretion of the Division Heads, who aim to create balanced teams and to encourage competitive play. We do not as a rule accomodate specific placement requests. However, we cannot guarantee placement for players who can only play on one weekend day.

Player Participation

Players who anticipate missing more than 2 games SHOULD NOT register for WSLL. If any player does register and misses more than 2 games, rules about player usage WILL NOT APPLY to that player. If any player misses one game without notifying their Coach at least 24 hours in advance, rules about player usage WILL NOT APPLY to that player. Returning players who register ON TIME AND ON LINE are given priority over new players, and over returning players who register late.

Equipment

All players must have their own mitts (WITH THEIR FULL NAME WRITTEN ON IT) and wear appropriate footwear-sneakers or plastic cleats (NO METAL CLEATS). The League provides bats, balls, team batting helmets & catcher's gear. If a player brings his/her own bat it must conform to Little League bat policy and be marked with the player's name. Below is a link to provide guidance in choosing an authorized bat: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-information/. Players can bring their own batting helmet for personal use but it must labeled "NOCSAE Approved" and be marked with the player's name. All male players ages 9 and up are required to wear an athletic supporter with protective cup.

League policy for players New to the League:
all New baseball players ages 10 and up must be evaluated before the start of the season. This is to insure the safety of players who are new to the league. If they cannot safely be placed on a team, they will receive a full refund.

Please contact the League Registrar if you have questions about your eligibility.
